This consultation paper, developed by our partners at British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI), seeks public comment on options to reform BC's legislation on public hearings. The paper presents a wide range of options for reform, covering everything from 'root-and-branch' reform to the fine-tuning of current provisions. A major component of this project involves considering alignment with Indigenous governance and identifying ways to integrate Indigenous considerations into law reform, as called for under BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.

Public responses to this paper were collected for a number of months after publication, and a final paper by BCLI on 'renovating the public hearing' is upcoming.
